I have just completed a project photographing and interviewing a group of women all of whom have spent time in Low Newton prison in Durham. The project was commissioned by the North East Offender Health Unit. Its purpose was to shed light on the health needs of female prisoners whilst in custody and to gain a greater understanding of the relationship between women’s health and their offending behaviour. The photographs were exhibited from during June 2010 in Durham Cathedral and a book of the project was published at the same time.
